What we do
Initiatives
Literacy & Book Clubs
We provide Literacy & Book Clubs for Afterschool Programs, Community Centers, and Schools. We also host our weekly literacy program on Saturdays serving pre-k through 4th-grade students.
Financial Literacy
We provide financial Literacy through educating parents in basic literacy skills. We offer contextual Financial Literacy Workshops for Families.
Legal Literacy
We provide free legal literacy for families in need of Legal advice and guidance by connecting them to professionals.
Physical Literacy clubs
We provide opportunities for children to exercise and be physically active and healthy. We provide physical Literacy Clubs for Afterschool Programs and Community Centers.
Nutritional Literacy
We are working on offering nutritional literacy for families to learn healthy nutritional habits that lead to a healthy lifestyle.
Emotional & Relational Literacy
We provide coaching and mentoring that lead to emotionally and relationally healthy habits. We offer Workshops for Families focused on conflict resolution.

Our Mission
Uptown Literacy Lights exists to offer holistic education, learning opportunities, and resources to underserved communities by providing training, programs, and basic education in reading, writing, financial, legal, emotional, physical, and nutritional literacy, as well as developing and building up local leaders who, in turn, lead efforts in their own community through training and education for the whole family that effectively help children excel in life.
